Prime Minister Joseph Muscat yesterday said he was confident Gozo would continue to listen to Labour.

Addressing a political activity in Victoria, Dr Muscat said Gozitans had elected three Labour MPs and he urged them to send out a similar strong message in next month’s European Parliament elections.

Dr Muscat said Gozo was already benefiting from the government’s economic policies and job creation.

The PN, he said, had no credibility in Gozo, where unemployment rose under the previous administration. Dr Muscat criticised the former government for failing to convince the EU that Gozo should be considered as a region.

He said the yacht marina and cruise liner terminal project as well as the possibility of an air strip would help the Gozitan economy.

Meanwhile in the morning Dr Muscat said at a press conference at Fort Chambray, Għajnsielem, that Labour was presenting a strong and competent team of candidates for next month’s European Parliament elections.

He said Labour’s record in the European Parliament was a consistent one.
