‘In God’s Name: Violent Youth, Primitive Accumulation and Power Wars in Nigeria’s Illegal and Legal Economies’ is the title of a paper to be presented on by Dr Caroline Ifeka from the Australian National University.
In the paper she investigates youth cultures that promulgate violence in central Nigeria, where Islam and Christianity meet, and draws comparisons to trends elsewhere in Nigeria. The talk forms part of the Work in Progress in the Social Studies seminar series being convened by Paul Clough, Peter Mayo and Michael Briguglio.
It will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 7 pm in MDT 122, at the end of the corridor behind HSBC branch on the Msida campus.
Students and the public are invited to attend.
