The hunters’ federation filed a judicial protest against the Police Commissioner and the Data Protection Commissioner who they said had the duty to prevent ‘crimes’ being contemplated by Briton Chris Packham.

The federation said that Mr Packham, who said on his website he would be visiting Malta to film hunters allegedly killing millions of birds this season, could enter private property and process hunters’ personal data.

The FKNK noted what it said were the “unfair attacks” being made on Maltese hunters this spring namely by Brian May, Bill Oddie, Chris Packham, The Guardian, The Times of London, The Sun, ITV and BBC TV and radio.

All these individuals or organisations were in the UK from where Birdlife’s executive director Steve Micklewright hailed.

This was the same UK where hunting could take place legally 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
