Foreign Minister George Vella this evening inaugurated a Centre for Diplomatic Studies in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The minister is in Georgia at the invitation of his Georgian counterpart Maia Panjikidze.

Dr Vella spoke on the links that could be developed between this centre and the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies in Malta. This academy has training a number of students from Georgia.

Tomorrow, Dr Vella has a bilateral meeting with the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, the Foreign Minister and Speaker David Usupashvili.

He will also be meeting Patriarch Ilia II.
