A 23-year-old man from Birzebbuga was today granted bail against a personal guarantee of €3,000 after he pleaded not guilty to violently resisting arrest, assaulting and slightly injuring a police officer.

He was also charged with filing a false police report, disobeying police orders and committing a crime while on probation.

Sources said Druq Squad officers stopped Alfred Schembri in Marsaxlokk to search him on San Girgor, he became violent and slightly injured PC Luca Grasso.
