Mosta ended their league season in style when they brushed aside Balzan 3-1 to ensure they finish fourth in the Premier League standings.

Enrico Piccioni’s team were in control right from the outset and the woodwork denied them an opener on 24 minutes. Ian Zammit sent a teasing cross towards Bojan Kaljevic whose firm header came off the upright.

Mosta did break the stalemate four minutes later when Gianmarco Piccioni nodded the ball towards Manolito Micallef who beat Emmanuel Bartolo with a low drive.

Balzan were rattled and they tried to get back in contention at the start of the second half but they could not find a way past Mosta goalkeeper Omar Borg.

Instead it was Mosta who doubled their lead on 59 minutes when Piccioni picked Kurt Zammit inside the area and the nippy midfielder fired the ball past Bartolo.

The Blues sealed the points with a third goal seven minutes from time when Manolito Micallef picked Kaljevic who raced clear and planted the ball past Bartolo.

Balzan managed to pull a goal back three minutes from time when Kurt Magro beat Borg with a low drive.

Mosta midfielder Manolito Micallef was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
