The EVG-3D construction system was launched in Malta in 2013 during a public seminar.
Developed over 30 years ago, the system has been thoroughly tested and certified to all relevant building codes and international standards. The components of the EVG-3D system are manufactured locally at JM Vassallo Vibro Blocks Limited.
EVG-3D provides a cost-effective construction system, offering a well-proved building method using high strength, load-bearing modular panels. The panels consist of a layer of galvanised mesh on either side of an EPS (expanded polystyrene) core, welded together by galvanised steel diagonals (trusses) which penetrate through the EPS core. The panels are joined in the desired configuration on site and sprayed with concrete to form a sandwich type construction.
EVG-3D offers a complete lightweight structural solution for any building envelope. Furthermore, due to the monolithic finished result and detailing of connections, the system achieves improved seismic resistance over conventional methods of construction.
Insulation is incorporated within the wall and slab or roofing thickness, and therefore becomes an integral part of the construction. This further reduces the thickness and weight of the envelope required to attain adequate thermal performance in buildings.
Minimum energy performance requirements of different building elements are enforceable under Legal Notice L.N. 376/12, and an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is required for every new building. This system exceeds current requirements and also satisfies requirements to be imposed in the 2017 EU directives.
The system offers various other benefits including speed of erection, safety on site, fire resistance, ease of passage of utilities and services, structural durability, and sound absorption. It has already been adopted locally in a number of residential and commercial projects.
