The 2013/14 Serie A is in the straight for home with only four matches left to play.

That Juventus were going to win the scudetto was a safe bet right from the outset this season.

Such has been their dominance that now their remaining target is to reach the 100-point mark in the league.

At present, Juve already have 90 points. They still have to travel to Sassuolo and to the capital to cross swords with nearest pursuers Roma. Juve’s other two matches are at home to Atalanta and Cagliari.

It seems that three wins and a draw are well within reach for Antonio Conte’s team.

The only dangerous hurdle for them to clear will be that of Roma who could hand the Bianconeri a third defeat of the season – the first since a 0-2 away upset to Napoli on March 30.

Roma and Napoli will be Italy’s two other representatives in the 2014/15 Champions League, with Rafa Benitez’s southerners having to negotiate one qualifying round before making it to the group stages of the lucrative competition.

Napoli meet Fiorentina at the Olympic Stadium in the 66th Coppa Italia final on May 3.

Fiorentina had an auspicious take-off to the current campaign but faded as the competition intensified.

The team from Florence were disappointing in various aspects despite many having tipped them to be prime challengers for a top-three finish.

But Vincenzo Montella’s side are a massive 10 points behind Napoli in fourth place. Next month’s cup final will give them and Napoli a chance to salvage an otherwise colourless season.

Impressive Inter

Inter, meanwhile, are almost there following a significant 2-0 win at Parma. Walter Mazzarri’s side are in fifth place and, like Fiorentina, they should qualify for the Europa League.

Although Inter still have to cross swords with Napoli, Milan, Lazio and Chievo, a five-point lead over their nearest rivals gives them a considerable advantage.

Given that Napoli and Fiorentina will book a berth in Europe via the Serie A and not through the Coppa Italia, the side finishing sixth will also participate in the Europa League.

At present, Parma and Milan are level on points with 51 points. Torino, Lazio and Verona follow two points behind.

It seems that Milan have peaked at the right moment as they have won five of their last six games.

The Rossoneri play Roma (away) next before the derby against Inter.

If Milan emerge unscathed from the capital on Friday, their chances of finishing inside the Euro zone will get a tremendous boost.

Parma lost four of their last six games as Torino, despite having Ciro Immobile firing on all cylinders, missed a great opportunity to keep up the pace as they were pegged back by Lazio in the last minute to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Torino are still with an outside chance to finish sixth but they will have to avoid the same mishaps of their last match for them to play in Europe for the first time in over two decades.

Torino’s remaining matches are against Udinese (home), Chievo (away), Parma (home) and Fio-rentina (away).

Crucial for Lazio’s future will be the trip to Livorno on Sunday before they host Verona on May 5.

Failure to claim all points from these two matches will bring the curtains down on Lazio’s quest for Europe.
