Police are expected to arraign a man today in connection with a shooting in a Ħamrun bar that left two men injured.

The shooting, in which the men were not badly hurt, took place after an argument broke out in Zonerz Pub in St Joseph High Street at around 12.45am, police sources said. It is not clear how many shots were fired.

The two men did not seek medical help or go to the police. People left the bar and it closed down for the night.

The police were however informed about the shooting and yesterday morning arrested a 31-year-old man from Għaxaq. They also managed to trace the two victims.

Police are investigating and the duty magistrate appointed court experts to help in the inquiry.

This is the second shooting in the span of two weeks, although the first took place in very different circumstances. A man suspected of taking part in a botched bank heist four years ago was shot twice in the head as he was parked outside his house in Bordin Street, Pietà, on April 9.

Critically injured, Vince Muscat, il-Koħħu, 52, managed to drive a few hundred metres to the Msida police station where he asked for help. His condition later improved.
