Eto’o: Chelsea forward Samuel Eto’o is out of tonight’s Champions League semi-final first leg at Atletico Madrid because of injury. The Cameroon international has a “minor knee irritation”, while Belgium winger Eden Hazard travelled with the rest of the squad to Spain despite missing the last two games with a calf problem.

Garcia: Roma coach Rudi Garcia is the main target for PSG. The French champions are thought to be on the lookout for a new coach after Laurent Blanc failed to lead the team past the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season. Sport Mediaset reported yesterday that PSG will part ways with Blanc and will try to persuade Garcia to move back to the French league.

Swiss Cup: The Swiss Cup final was marred by violence for the second year running yesterday when fans let off fireworks and smashed windows in the centre of Berne before the game. Despite all the trouble and heavy police presence, the match itself, in which FC Zurich scored twice in extra-time to beat nine-man Basel 2-0, was played in a half-empty Stade de Suisse. Reports said FC Zurich fans let off fireworks outside the main station after they arrived on a special train.

Aimar: Argentine playmaker Pablo Aimar has been dumped by his Malaysian club JDT after the 34-year-old’s injury problems sidelined him for most of the campaign. Aimar, who signed a two-year deal with Johor Darul Takzim in September, was the highest paid player in the Malaysian top flight and club president Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim said he hadn’t proved value for money.

Violence: Ajax fans who threw fireworks on to the pitch which led to Sunday’s Dutch Cup final against PEC Zwolle to be halted twice will be punished, Dutch FA director Bert van Oostveen said. PEC Zwolle’s 5-1 win over the favourites was marred by the violent scenes which were described as “unacceptable” by van Oostveen. “It was an unacceptable start to an outstanding cup final,” he said. “We will work with the clubs to evaluate this and we will try to track down and punish the perpetrators.”
