A 39-year-old man from Cospicua was today granted bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €3,000 after he pleaded not guilty to involuntarily but seriously injuring an Italian woman while driving dangerously.
The Italian woman, Camilla Righi, told the court that on the day of the accident she was walking with her husband on the pavement near St Elmo.
She recalled her jacket tearing as she was hit by the side mirror of a car.
She said she fell to the ground, knocked her head and blacked out.
She said she could not remember stepping out into the road and added that the driver, Frankie Cutajar, was not driving fast.
