Bank of Valletta has extended its role as main partner of Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna, a foundation active in the field of heritage preservation and the creation of cultural heritage awareness.

BOV’s chief executive officer Charles Borg met the foundation’s CEO Mario Farrugia in Vittoriosa, where two FWA volunteers donned replicas of knights’ armour and displayed fighting techniques harking back to that era.

Thanking the bank for its support, Mr Farrugia said the foundation managed sites that covered 7,000 years of history, from pre-historical times to modern day.

“We would like to invite people to make a small donation and become friends of the foundation,” Mr Farrugia said. Friends will gain unlimited access to all sites managed by the FWA as well as discounts on the foundation’s main events.”

Mr Borg said: “The bank is very much a forward-looking institution which is proud of its roots and that is why it supports initiatives that seek to safeguard Malta’s heritage.”

Thanks to BOV’s support, the foundation will be organising a number of events, including a military festival, open days at all the major FWA sites and the annual open day at Fort Rinella, where the unique 100-ton gun will be fired.
