For the past 13 years, the Arka Foundation has administered Dar Arka, a residential home in Għajnsielem for people with disabilities. This centre, apart from offering residential services on a permanent and respite basis, also offers a wide range of services to people with special needs and their families.

On behalf of the residents, staff and committee I would like to thank all benefactors who offered donations that help us keep the Arka Respite Centre going. With these donations special projects like a gym, a multi-sensory studio, opti music, a special playing field, a heated pool, a jacuzzi and a new laundry were made possible.

I would also like to take this opportunity to convey my sincere and special gratitude to all those anonymous benefactors whom we never get to meet or know. A case in point is that of a recent anonymous monetary donation specifically targeted for the purchase of a stair climber.

This piece of equipment carries wheelchairs up and down the stairs with the greatest ease for the carer as well as comfort to the client. This equipment comes in very handy when a power cut occurs and electric lifts fail to work or in places where lifts and stair lifters are not available.
