Jacqueline Camilleri, who was appointed CEO with Simblija Developments Limited, a subsidiary of AX Holdings, will be taking over the management and development of The Hilltop Gardens Retirement Village. This development is a first for Malta because it brings the concepts of independent living and assisted care under one roof.
Ms Camilleri said she was looking forward to her new role. “Our objectives are to ensure that residents will be able to age actively and with dignity,” she added.
Ms Camilleri is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Accountants. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh Business School.
She has held various positions within the AX Holdings Group between 1990 and 1998, including that of finance and administration manager of Capua Palace Hospital.
In 1998, she joined the Foundation for Medical Services as one of the team members responsible for the opening of Mater Dei Hospital. Ms Camilleri has also worked in the UK, where she joined the National Health Service and served as a directorate management accountant at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Ms Camilleri provided financial consultancy services to the private and national health sector in her role as head of the Financial Monitoring and Control Unit within the Health Ministry.
She has also worked on various consulting assignments, privatisation processes, strategic reviews and business evaluations during her time at Mimcol.
In the last quarter of 2010, she rejoined the Health Ministry as director general, Finance and Administration.
