Having rounded off last year on a high with two single releases, a music video and performances abroad, Chris & Moira are back with a brand new single, their first release for 2014, which looks set to be at least as busy as the one before.

“Last year brought with it some great opportunities for us,” says Chris Scicluna. “We were already excited at releasing new material, and the opportunity to perform abroad simply made it better for us.”

They had played abroad already as a duo, but this was their first experience of the foreign circuit with a band formation.

“A lot of people still think of us as a duo, but there are two other musicians in Chris & Moira. These are bassist Billy B and drummer Philip Borg Barthet, and we’ve been a full band for quite some years now,” Moira Stafrace explains.

“We have a number of gigs to play abroad as part of Tour170, among them dates in Antalya, Stuttgart, Gottingen, Amsterdam and Tuscany, with more dates still to be confirmed,” she adds.

Before all that takes off however, there’s the new single, Beautiful World, which officially launches tomorrow.

“It’s the third single off our new album,” Moira says. “It’s an upbeat song that’s all about taking a positive outlook on life despite the setbacks one faces along the way.”

It is with this mindset then that the band will be taking its music to foreign shores; each gig doubling as a kind of launch for the Ninety Nights and a Monday album that will be available on iTunes as from May 1.

“It’ll primarily be a digital release,” Scicluna says, “but there’s a limited number of CD albums that will only be available at our gigs.”
