The Maltese junior waterpolo team could not have hoped for a better start to the EU 8 Nations Tournament after back-to-back victories over Poland and Switzerland in Brno, Czech Republic, yesterday.

Malta started with a 15-5 win over Poland. The opening two sessions were played on an even keel as Malta only led 4-2 at the change of ends. However, the floodgates opened after the interval break as Malta struck seven times to Poland’s two to make sure of the victory.

In the evening, the Maltese juniors beat Switzerland 11-6 to book their place in the medal matches.

Here, coach Karl Izzo made use of all members in his squad as he looked to give his players a breather ahead of the final matches.

This morning, Malta play their remaining Group B match against Scotland before the afternoon classification matches.
