Rugby Union: Australia’s 2015 World Cup preparations will be well tested on their end-of-season European tour in November with coach Ewen McKenzie trying to replicate their potential campaign for the Webb Ellis trophy as much as possible. McKenzie’s side will play five matches on five successive weekends, which includes clashes against World Cup Pool A opponents England and Wales. They will also face Six Nations winners Ireland and heavyweights France on the tour.

Athletics: Barcelona, Doha and Eugene, Oregon have all thrown their hats in the ring to host the 2019 World Championships, the sport’s world governing body, the IAAF, said. The International Association of Athletics Federations Council, meeting in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, said in a statement that the three cities had lodged letters of intent to join the bidding process as candidates for the event. The statement said the Council would announce the winning city at its meeting in November.

Athletics: Former world champion Steve Cram has joined the British Athletics endurance programme. Cram, 53, is the latest high-profile addition to the programme under head Barry Fudge. Marathon world record-holder Paula Radcliffe was also named a key advisor in December, when it was an-nounced that Mo Farah’s coach Alberto Salazar would advise in a consultancy capacity. “It’s an exciting time for British Athletics and it’s great to be part of it,” said Cram, who won the world 1,500 metres title in Helsinki in 1983 and Olympic silver over the same distance the following year in Los Angeles.
