Dione Drago, who stepped down as Naxxar Lions president on Wednesday, was handed a 10-match touchline ban today.

Drago, who masterminded Naxxar's rise from the lower tiers back to the top flight of Maltese football, was sanctioned for his bad-tempered reaction after his team suffered a last-gasp 1-0 defeat in their Relegation Pool match against Qormi last weekend.

The former Naxxar chief was also ordered off the bench during Saturday's game.

Roderick Albani, the Naxxar Lions kit manager, was also suspended for 10 games.

The suspensions list, issued this morning by the Malta FA, made grim reading for relegation strugglers Naxxar Lions as they had three players receiving a one-match ban.

Brazilian forward Gilmar was suspended following his red card in the Qormi defeat while goalkeeper Julian Azzopardi was sanctioned for four yellow cards.

Argentine defender David Alejandro Reano received a one-match ban after Naxxar failed to file his medical clearance certificate at the MFA as required by the association's regulations.

Gilmar, Azzopardi and Reano will miss Saturday's Premier League game against Floriana who themselves will be without three players after Gary Muir, Igor Coronado and Brooke Farrugia were handed a one-match ban for four yellow cards.

Tarxien Rainbows will be missing two players for their match against relegated side Rabat Ajax on Saturday. Manuel Caruana was given a one-match ban after being sent off for two cautions in the defeat to Floriana while Brazilian Lucas was hit with a two-match ban for his red card during the same match.

Title challengers Valletta will be without Roderick Briffa for Monday's clash with Balzan after the midfielder earned his fourth booking in the 5-0 rout of Mosta last weekend.

Mosta have lost Bojan Kaljevic for their direct clash with fifth-placed Sliema Wanderers on Monday after the Montenegrin striker was handed a one-match ban for an off-the-ball incident in the defeat to Valletta.
