After a cautious start to this first round cup tie, Young Stars took the lead when Mark Camilleri netted as a result of a penalty corner action.

In the 14th minute, Camilleri threatened again but shot over the bar when well placed.

However, Young Stars went further ahead a minute later, when a half-hit shot by Luke Borg Costanzi flew into the net despite Tony Azzopardi’s attempt to clear off the line.

White Hart then created two chances around the 20th minute mark but failed to reduce the arrears. And they fell further behind four minutes later when Borg Costanzi scored his second and Young Stars’ third goal after receiving a measured Edward Hughes pass.

The half-time whistle blew after White Hart’s defence managed to scramble a ball off the line with their custodian beaten.

Two minutes into the second half, Joseph Dalli scored Young Stars’ fourth after the ball had rebounded to him off the goalkeeper’s pads following a Borg Costanzi push at goal.

From then on, Young Stars controlled the game and Jamie Mifsud netted after receiving another accurate Hughes centre to send his team into a 5-0 lead.

Two minutes from time, Young Stars were awarded a penalty and Mifsud stepped up to score his second and his side’s sixth goal, sending his team into the next round of the knock out competition.
