It was another incredible week of cricket, one that gave the selection committee a headache to organise so many teams to play for Marsa against touring sides.

On Wednesday, the final game against Worcester Royal Grammar school was played with WRGC winning quite comfortably, Bartlett taking six wickets.

Notably for Marsa was Nowell Khosla’s 44 runs.

On Friday, a game was played against new touring team Romiley who overpowered the home side at the oval.

Batting first, they made 165 runs in a 20-over game with R. Holt making 53 runs... almost as many as the full Marsa score of 59 all out.

On Saturday, the fixtures were rescheduled for a mini-tournament which included Aldenham who were also here on their first visit.

The first game was between Marsa and Romiley.

The visitors batted first and made 169 runs from their 20 overs with Holt again showing class with 54 runs while B. Allcock made 39.

The Marsa team could only muster 109 runs off their 20 overs with Sam Aquilina top scoring with 36 runs.

In the second game, Romiley accounted for Aldenham to top the mini-tournament.

Aldenham and Marsa then clashed for second place.

Aldenham batted first and finished with 109 runs. Charlie Munroe top scored with 31 runs and C. Hewitt finished with 18.

For Marsa, Joy Ghoseroy took three wickets. After a very shaky start, and Munroe taking five wickets, the home side managed to get over the line and win.

Chris Naudi played a great innings of 33 and Zubair Raja made 21.

On Sunday, the series against Romiley continued. Romiley, batting first in the 35-over encounter, were bowled out for 164 runs, Allcock making 55 runs and Holt 27.

For Marsa, Sumair Khan took four wickets and Mike Caruana three.

Again, the Marsa batting line-up stuttered but managed to get the required runs with one ball remaining in the innings.

A gallant innings from Bikram Arora, undoubtedly the best for Marsa in the past couple of weeks, had him reaching 75 runs which included five fours and five sixes.

Caruana was 16 runs not out. He was the next highest scorer... equal with extras. For the visitors, P. Garner took three wickets.

Today, the fourth game of the Romiley series will be played with the home team desperate for a win to try and draw the series.

On Saturday, the Cricket Academy runs between 9 and 10.30am.
