A man with a history of stealing razor blades from pharmacies all across Malta is back in jail.
Paul Gauci Borda, 21, of Ġzira, who has already served a year's imprisonment, was today jailed for two years after admitting to more stealing. He has a number of previous convictions for stealing blades, shaving foam and other items.
Every time, he was caught on CCTV cameras and his identity was confirmed to police almost instantly by the consistency with which he targeted the same product: razor blades.
During proceedings today, Mr Gauci Borda pleaded guilty to stealing razor blades and shaving foam from shops in Msida and Birkirkara. He also stole perfumes, cigarettes, key chains and purses from shops in Gzira and Msida.
He also took a laptop and digital camera from a hotel in Sliema and batteries from a shop in Tarxien.
Mr Gauci Borda admitted to the thefts while his legal aid lawyer Simon Micallef Stafrace asked Magistrate Anthony Vella to send a recommendation to the prisons director for his client to be kept at the forensic unit at Mount Carmel hospital.
Magistrate Vella sentenced him to two years in jail after taking into consideration his early admission and the fact that he had relapsed.
