Juventus re-opened an eight-point lead at the top of the Serie A standings following a 2-0 win away at Udinese last night.

The visitors had defender Andrea Barzagli, Arturo Vidal, Leonardo Bonucci and Carlos Tevez not figuring in the starting formation but Antonio Conte’s men were still good enough to beat the northeasterners to edge closer to a third league title.

Goals from Sebastian Giovinco and Fernando Llorente in the opening half put Juventus on their way as Udinese failed to react after the break.

Giovinco beat his direct marker before curling his shot beyond goalkeeper Simone Scuffet’s reach early on and Llorente was on the right spot on 26 minutes to tap the ball home from close in.

Juve have 87 points with second-placed Roma on 79. On Saturday, Juve are at home to Bologna and Roma play away at Fiorentina.
