President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca paid her first official visit to Gozo last Saturday. She visited the Banca Giuratale in Victoria and laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to the victims of World War II in Independence Square.

She paid homage to two late presidents of Malta by placing flowers on the grave of Ċensu Tabone at Xewkija cemetery and on the monument of Anton Buttigieg in Qala.

She also visited the Arka Foundation, Għajnsielem, where she attended a Mass and lunched with the centre’s directors.

She later met a group of Danish youths suffering a disability and opened Dar Emmaus, a shelter for victims of domestic violence to be run by Fondazzjoni Kenn u Tama.
