Artist Jeni Caruana is showing a collection of watercolours and acrylics capturing rural landscapes, garden scenes and gnarled olive trees at Villa Bologna, Attard.

Caruana, who has organised regular Friday painting classes in the gardens of Villa Bologna in the past, will be painting and exhibiting on site throughout the month of April every Wednesday morning (10am to 1pm) and Saturday afternoon (2.30pm to 5.50pm).

Jeni’s tenure forms part of a monthly visiting artists’ programme launched earlier this year to help artists collaborate and share space at Ċeramika Maltija.

The initiative is a throwback to pottery history as part of The Malta Industries Association, which was set up in 1931 by Lady Cecilia Strickland. The objective of the association was to safeguard local artisanship for posterity.

The series of artist events at Villa Bologna are also intented to promote local endeavour and artistic potential while cultivating pride in a made-in-Malta ethos.
