I would like to inform the police and the health services that, last week, an accident occurred on Tower Road, Sliema (near the Diplomat Hotel) in which a man was hit by a car and the response time of both the police and the ambulance exceeded 15 minutes. In my view, this is unacceptable.
Fortunately, the man was not critically injured, however, had he been, his chances of survival would have been greatly diminished.
It has been a practice in Malta that, instead of widening roads, we are narrowing them and, now, we have several roads through which an ambulance cannot pass if there is a lot of traffic. This might be the reason for the poor response time.
