Juventus booked their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League after they edged past French side Olympique Lyon 2-1 in yesterday’s second leg in Turin to progress 3-1 on aggregate. Andrea Pirlo put the hosts ahead with a well-taken free-kick after only four minutes. But the Ligue 1 side hit back strongly and Jimmy Briand pull them level on 18 minutes. The Bianconeri stepped up a gear on the restart and they manage to grab a winner on 68 minutes when Claudio Marchisio’s shot was deflected by Samuel Utiti past Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.
