Edwin Attard is the new president of the Malta Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA). Yesterday, he collected the highest number of votes during the council elections held at the association’s headquarters in Marsa.

Attard, the former MAAA secretary, beat Mario Bonello nine votes to seven to fill in the void left by Anthony Chircop who decided not to contest again for the post he held for the past 18 years.

Robert Chircop was voted as the new association’s general secretary while the other members forming part of the MAAA Council are Antonella Chouhal, Karl Farrugia, Anthony Fava, Mauro Pace Parascandalo, Maurice Spiteri, Stephen Spiteri and Alan Zammit.
