Hull: The FA is due to rule on Hull City’s controversial bid to rename themselves Hull Tigers today. The FA Council is expected to block the rebranding proposals of club owner Assem Allam after the governing body’s own membership committee unanimously recommended they be rejected last month. That would be in spite of a poll conducted by the club which appears to offer some evidence of support among fans for the change.

Lazio: Lazio have suffered a double blow with Uruguay midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez and German forward Miroslav Klose both ruled out for a month with muscular injuries. The two players got hurt in Lazio’s 2-0 triumph over Sampdoria at the weekend. Both players will sit out the Serie A games against Napoli, Torino, Livorno and Verona.

Stevanovic: Ethiopia have picked Serbian Goran Stevanovic as the national side’s new coach, pending contract negotiations. Stevanovic, who previously coached Ghana and was assistant coach of Serbia and Montenegro, will replace Sewnet Bishaw, who was sacked in February after a dismal run at this year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Flum: Eintracht Frankfurt will be without Johannes Flum for the remainder of the Bundesliga season after the defender dislocated his shoulder at the weekend. He will have an operation on Friday after ligament damage was discovered. Flum may also have played his last game for Frankfurt. His future has been cast in doubt following coach Armin Veh’s announcement that he will be leaving in the summer.

Wallace: Rangers face further worries following their shock Ramsdens Cup final defeat as star player Lee Wallace battles to recover from injury ahead of their biggest match of the season. The left-back went off with a hip problem midway through the second half of Rangers’ 1-0 defeat by Raith. Wallace underwent treatment and Rangers say he has not been ruled out of Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Dundee United at Ibrox. But the club say it remains to be seen how likely he is to face United.
