I would like to express my sense of awe and appreciation for the beautiful execution of Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem which was performed by the Schola Cantorum Jubilate choir of Gozo.

A special thanks should go to Stefan Attard, his companion Silvana Sultana and all those who helped him to make this dream come true; this must have been the first time that Duruflé’s Requiem was performed on the island of Gozo.

I was present for the execution of the Requiem on Sunday at the Xagħra basilica and it was such a memorable evening. What better preparation for Holy Week could a Christian go through than being present for such a strong spiritual experience where music serves as a humble servant of religion itself?
