Singapore’s Changi airport has topped a list of the world’s best compiled from views of nearly 13 million passengers.

“With features like a swimming pool, jacuzzi and butterfly garden, it’s no wonder it came out on top,” said UK-based airline and airport review organisation Skytrax, which complied the list.

A total of 12.85 million customers across 110 countries had to decide which of 410 airports would make the final cut.

Second was Incheon airport in Seoul, South Korea, with Munich placing third, Hong Kong coming fourth and Amsterdam fifth.

London’s Heathrow airport was the highest-scoring for the UK, in 10th place.

Ryanair sees drop in flyers

Low-fares airline Ryanair saw a four per cent drop in passengers last month.

The number of travellers across all its routes fell by 200,000 to 5.2 million customers in March.

Its load factor went up by one per cent to reach 80 per cent in the same period.

However, the budget operator posted that annual traffic in the 12 months to March 2014 had risen by three per cent, hitting a record 81.7 million customers.

Ryanair has also has started its Malta summer season with routes to 28 destinations.

The airline’s Maria Macken said: “We are pleased to celebrate the start of the season in Malta.

“This is the first summer where Ryanair customers can enjoy a free, small, second carry-on bag, quiet flight, allocated seats and use their personal electronic devices at all stages of their flight, with a new website, smartphone app and family and business products coming soon.”

Money back for late flight

An airline is offering passengers a special late-flight guarantee.

Flybe is promising that if a flight arrives more than 60 minutes late due to a delay within the airline’s control, passengers will qualify for a £60 voucher.

This can be put towards their next flight if booked within 60 days.

The guarantee was announced as Flybe launched a rebrand that will introduce purple livery for planes and staff uniforms. (PA)
