The Malta Photographic Society is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers that caters for anyone interested in practising the art of photography. The society offers its members a wide variety of activities including a number of competitions and an informative quarterly newsletter.

Members meet regularly every Thursday evening for talks, demonstrations and hands-on sessions dealing with a broad spectrum of subjects related to photography.

The society regularly holds courses for beginners both in photography and photo editing and is always looking into new areas of education for the benefit of its members.

The society gives its members the opportunity to meet other people interested in the many facets of photography. Newcomers to the hobby will benefit especially from the ability to interact with and learn from the more experienced members in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

In 2011, the society celebrated its 50th anniversary since it was set up. To commemorate this event, it published a hardbound book entitled Celebrating Photography in Malta.

To become a member, visit the society’s premises on Thursday evening and the society volunteers will show you around and introduce you to the society and its activities. For more information visit www.maltaphotographicsociety.org.
