A group of European Studies students from the Convent of the Sacred Heart Foundation in St Julian’s recent went on an educational trip to Brussels.

They visited some of the main EU institutions, including the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as Malta’s embassy to the EU, Dar Malta.

At the European Parliament the students took part in a role play game in the parliamentarium that helped them better understand the work of MEPs and the Council of Ministers.

At the European Commission, they met Karl Scerri who works with Maltese commissioner Tonio Borg, who explained the role of the European commissioners and the work of staff who assist them.

The trip helped the students to see the difference between EU institutions and the Maltese Parliament and better appreciate the role of the EU. They were provided with information on employment opportunities the EU offers.
