Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa is sponsoring the fourth edition of the Mdina Classic Car Grand Prix, taking place on October 9-12.

The Grand Prix started as a casual idea by French entrepreneur and classic car enthusiast Thierry Giovannoni in 2007, and it has since developed into one of the more popular appointments in the classical car events diary internationally.

A bevy of machines ranging from 1920s and 30s Bugattis to 1950s Ferraris, Maseratis, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos and Aston Martins will be battling it out around the city’s perimeter roads, and there will also be a static display in the main square of Mdina.

The Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa, as Mdina Grand Prix’s official hotel partner, will be the main competition base and has put together a special accommodation package for participants.

Laser-tag opens at Bay Street

A laser-tag attraction has just opened within Delta 4, the family entertainment centre on level 4 at Bay Street Complex, St Julian’s.

Lasermaxx is an interactive game suitable for both individuals and teams aged seven upwards and can host up to 21 players in up to six teams at any one time. Each game lasts an average of 15 minutes.

The sci-fi activity provides high adrenalin entertainment within an elaborate space-themed maze and features characters from Star Wars.

Each player is equipped with a laser vest and phaser and receives a scorecard with their individual and team scores, ranking, game type, shots fired, accuracy, shots hit and shots received.

More enhancements are due to follow with a number of Star Wars surprises in store.

Qormi and Mosta councils join GreenPak for collection

Qormi and Mosta councils have transferred their waste collection and recycling services to GreenPak. The 38 councils served by GreenPak cover almost two-thirds of the Maltese population.

The collection frequency runs throughout the week and in localities with high commercial activity, GreenPak also provides collections from shops and small businesses, including Saturdays.

GreenPak runs a free recycling bag programme, which is distributed to each household in an effort to encourage recycling on Tuesdays.

Go portal launched

Go has launched the first phase of its new portal, which allows customers to pay their bills online.

The website was entrusted to Crimsonwing following a tendering process.

The new website, available at www.go.com.mt, successfully addressed the primary objective of building a scalable system that enables Go to easily update content independently. Go also has a new online catalogue to showcase products and services.

Key features of the website include a redesigned telephone directory search service, access to a full TV electronic programme guide, which provides a seven-day weekly programme schedule of most stations offered by Go on TV. The new site also provides quick links to help customers get to the information they need.

Crimsonwing consultants were involved throughout the whole process, from design specification, front-end design, back-end functionality, together with training the Go personnel on their new portal and providing technical support to Go once the website is up and running.

Two more phases will be unfolded in the coming months.
