The owners of a small dog that escaped in Texas have no idea how he made it to a shelter in Ohio more than 1,000 miles away.

The three-year-old Chihuahua-Dachshund mix named Corbin dug a hole under a fence in his backyard and was found four days later tied to a bench outside an animal shelter. Officials hope to identify a woman seen on surveillance footage as she left the dog at the shelter, The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Corbin, who is in good shape, was reunited with his owners with the help of a microchip. One says he previously escaped by digging holes but was always found nearby.
