According to the Times of Malta e-paper of March 27 regarding the Civil Unions Bill, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca (who will soon be our next president) has made it clear that she has no problem signing the new law and added that, since this measure was an electoral commitment made by the government before the last election, she had no problem with it.
It was also reported that the new law will put unions between gay and lesbian couples on par with marriage between heterosexual couples. This Bill will give gay and lesbian couples the right to adopt children. I would like to put two direct questions.
Is Coleiro Preca ready to solemnly swear that adoption of children by gay and lesbian couples was included in the electoral programme of the Labour Party before the last election?
Also, how and when was this explained to the public?
Since this is a very serious issue, it must be treated in a very serious manner, without experimenting with children, because these are the most vulnerable in society.
