The MUMN - Malta Union for Midwives and Nurses is opening its membership to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech (language) pathologists, health inspectors, podologists, medical laboratory scientists, dental hygienists, pharmacy technician, electrocardiographic technicians, radiographers, social workers, nutrionists, health and safety inspectors and pharmacists.

Some of those sectors are already represented by other unions or associations.

The union said it had already formally requested the Office of the Prime Minister to grant it recognition as the trade union representing social workers. It said that while its request is considered, talks on a collective agreement being held with another trade union should be suspended.
