I read with great interest the article ‘College Rules, OK?’ about St Aloysius College published in The Sunday Times of Malta on March 16.

We have to recognise the important role that the Church plays in our society, especially in the education of our children. The dedication that is evident in most of these schools no doubt leads to a better education.

Most of the larger scale schools are lacking the individual attention that is given by these Church schools. Such attention must be given by all the parties involved within the school structure, especially the administration and teaching staff. Being a grandparent of a child attending St Aloysius College, I have witnessed the dedication and individual attention most of the teachers show students. Two of the teachers are Gozitans who cross over every day and although they spend a lot of time travelling, they still show great interest in their students.

Lately, although one of the teachers was sick, she still managed to send revision work to her students to be done in school or as homework. I was very impressed by this.

Let the good that is done be widely publicised and be an example to others. The national system has to look into these micro systems and apply their philosophy wherever possible.
