At Victoria Scout Group’s annual general meeting, Jurgen Attard was presented with Venture Scout of the Year award.

Andrea Galea won Scout of the Year award, Michele Terribile won Cub Scout of the Year, Seeonee Pack, and Simon Formosa won Cub Scout of the Year, Saturday Pack.

The Thanks Badge was presented to Patricia Galea in recognition of various years of service to the group.

Certificates of merit were presented to Venture Scout Beppe Galea and Scout Max Scerri.

The Kestrel Patrol received the Salvinu Camilleri Shield while the Brown Six (Seeonee Pack) and the Green Six (Saturday Pack), which had won the Inter-Six monthly competition, were presented with certificates and badges.

Guest speaker Carmel Cachia gave a talk highlighting how relevant his scouting years were for both his personal and professional life. He urged parents to consider scouting as a tool for their children’s character-formation and independence.

The meeting included reports by council secretary Marija Mercieca, treasurer Gino Mizzi, group scout leader Lorrie Saliba and chairman Michael Grech.

Saliba presented to Victoria mayor Samuel Azzopardi a copy of the recently published book compiled by Carmel Cachia, The Victoria Scout Group, A Chronicle of Events, 1963-2013.

Maryrose Pace, who up to last year occupied the post of cub scout leader, will remain a member of the group council and will be in charge of the scout shop at the headquarters.

Various mementos were presented to her on behalf of the group and the cubs.
