Bridal firm Pronovias is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with its 50 Years Dressing Dreams concept, paying homage to Pronovias brides worldwide.

The company knows its origins in El Suizo, an establishment that opened in 1922 in Barcelona, specialising in lace, silk and embroidery for brides.

Pronovias presented its first prêt-à-porter bridal collection in 1964, taking an important step that would propel the company into the 21st century by combining bridal and prêt-à-porter concepts in a single, innovative project.

In 1968, Pronovias opened its first specialist bridal store in Spain. The following decade was a time of steady and fast expansion, which saw the company opening 80 more shops in Spain and the start of its international expansion in Europe.

Having entered the American and Asian markets in the 1990s, the brand now has more than 3,800 sales points in 75 countries.

To mark its anniversary, Pronovias will be hosting a series of events and initiatives. One such initiative will be the publication of a book showcasing the firm’s 50-year history in a social, historic and economic context, integrating the creation and evolution of the brand.

Pronovias has worked with great designers such as Pedro Rodríguez in the 1970s, Francesco Arenas in the 1980s, Manuel Mota, who joined in the 1990s, Emanuel Ungaro, Valentino and Badgley Mischka represented in 2000, the current Elie by Elie Saab collection and the company’s top-of-the-range line developed by the Atelier Pronovias creative team.

The firm has put together a collection of dresses and representative pieces from its history, which will soon be exhibited in Barcelona and will then travel to New York and Milan.

This year, coinciding with Pronovias and the Atelier Pronovias 2015 collection presentation, the company will celebrate 50 years of history with a fashion show, hosting national and international faces from the high society, film and fashion industries, such as Stacey Kiebler, Francesca Eastwood, Petra Nemocova, Margaret y Rainey Qualley, Amanda Hearst, Lauren Remington Platt, Federica Pellegrini, Isabel Preysler, Tamara Falcó, Ana Boyer, Charisse Verhaert and Genoveva Casanova.

For Pronovias, 2014 represents the dream, excitement, love and passion for a profession that has enabled it to dress the dreams of brides worldwide for half a century. The company is committed to continuing to dress those dreams for at least another 50 years.
