Archaeologist Cyprian Broodbank will give a lecture on Friday at 6.30pm entitled The Making of the Middle Sea: The Emergence of the Mediterranean World, at the Aula Magna of the University’s Valletta Campus, St Paul’s Street, Valletta, organised by the Faculty of Arts.

The lecture is based on the speaker’s recent book The Making of the Middle Sea: A History of the Mediterranean from the Beginning to the Emergence of the Classical World, which draws together ideas and information from the Mediterranean’s European, western Asian and African flanks, as well as the islands at its heart, to present a new interpretation of the trajectories and interactions that gradually created this maritime world.

Broodbank is Professor of Mediterranean Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London.

Entrance is free. To reserve a seat, call Yanica Cassar on 2340 2309 or e-mail yanica.cassar@um.edu.mt.
