The Technical Regulations Division of the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority has found that a wooden hand drum toy on the market poses a serious risk to children (see picture).

This toy has small parts that are easily detachable and may be swallowed by young children. Therefore, this product does not conform to the applicable European legislation. The MCCAA advises consumers who have bought this toy to ensure that they do not allow little children to play with it and to return it to the shop they bought it from.

Traders and retailers who have placed these products on the market are ordered to recall them and to advise their clients to return the toy to the shop.

Any traders and retailers found to be still placing this toy on the market will be liable to legal action against them, as provided for under the Product Safety Act.
