The number of tourists who stayed in hotels in January amounted to an 11 per cent increase over the same month last year, according to official statistics.
Hotels welcomed 67,153 guests who spent a total of 368,961 nights during the month, although the latter figure represented a decline of one per cent, the National Statistics Office said.
The average length of stay went down from six nights in January 2013 to almost five nights.
The largest share of guest nights was reported in four-star hotels, accounting for 170,838, or 46.3 per cent of the total.
Total arrivals and nights spent in Gozo increased by 34 per cent and Comino by 41 per cent when compared to the comparative month last year.
