Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Nabucco will be performed at the Astra Theatre, Victoria, on October 23 and 25, as the highlight of Festival Mediterranea 2014.

Nabucco is considered one of Verdi’s most popular operas and a tour-de-force not least because of the leading role the choir has in the opera. In fact, the choir is considered one of the opera’s main protagonists, alongside those of Nabucco and Abigaille. The opera is being staged at the Astra after an absence of 20 years. When it was last performed there in 1994, the production was acclaimed as a success by critics and public alike.

The music of the forthcoming production will be performed by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the theatre’s and festival’s music and artistic director, Prof. Joseph Vella, while the direction will once again be entrusted to Enrico Stinchelli.

Booking is now open on 2155 0985, 7925 6897 or e-mail info@mediterranea.com.mt.
