The Capuchin friar community at Victoria recently commemorated the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Fjur t’Assisi choir with a Mass celebrated by Fr Godfrey Zarb, accompanied by the choir led by Marita Cassar.

This was followed by a concert presented by Mark Laurence Zammit and directed by Ms Cassar during which the choir performed 10 songs.

It was attended by Provincial Minister of the Maltese Capuchin Friars, Rev. Martin Micallef, OFM Cap., Fr Paul Bugeja, OFM Cap, and other members of the order as well as Gozo Minister Anton Refalo.

The choir was founded in 1999 by Fr Bugeja and George Cremona. Its main aim is to animate the liturgy at the Capuchin church in Victoria. However, over the years it has also taken part in social and cultural activities in Malta and Gozo. The choir has participated in five Marian Festivals in Gozo, which it won four times. It has also visited and performed in Germany and Assisi, and was awarded a bronze diploma at the International Choirs’ Festival.
