The Victoria Hotel has just been awarded the Malta Tourism Authority’s Eco certification for the second consecutive year.

The Eco certification is the national standard to ensure the environmental, socio-economic and cultural sustainability of hotels in Malta.

A hotel must comply with a number of criteria aimed at improving the hotel’s environmental performance and increasing environmental aware-ness among employees.

The Victoria Hotel introduced such measures as the use of eco-friendly materials, avoiding noise and air pollution, as well as the safeguarding of surroundings.

Commenting on the achievement, The Palace and The Victoria Hotel’s manager Kevin Callus said: “We are working actively to reduce the carbon footprint of our activities and improving, as well as innovating, our day-to-day work practices.

“This hotel has implemented a number of environmental practices such as training staff on environmental best practices, introducing waste management strategies and water reduction and reducing the usage of harmful chemicals such as chlorine. “Protecting our environment and being aware is an important part of our corporate social responsibility programme,” Mr Callus said.
