A survey carried out by Deloitte on Millennials – born in the 1980s and 1990s – showed that they want to work for organisations that foster innovative thinking, develop their skills and make a positive contribution to society.

Deloitte’s third annual Millennial Survey explored what 7,800 Millennials from 28 countries around the world expect of business, government and the future workplace. The Millennial generation, also referred to as Generation Y, are those born in the 1980s and 1990s and according to David Burstein, this totals 1.7 million worldwide. Approximately one of three people alive in the world today is a member of the Millennial generation. At Deloitte Malta, Millennials account for 71 per cent of the staff complement.

Deloitte Malta actively and financially supports students in their journeys towards becoming chartered accountants through three Deloitte programmes for tertiary education in professional services. These educational programmes incorporate formal training, apprenticeship and mentoring, active development and on-the-job training through assignments and experiences. “Generation Y typically believe that work/life balance is a standard and that an employer should provide them with opportunities for career progression and ongoing learning and development. At Deloitte, fostering career progression and development prospects is a priority and we ensure that our staff are provided with substantial opportunities to assist them in achieving their full potential,” said Michelle Bonnici, head of human resources at Deloitte Malta.
