They’ve been around in some form or other for more than a decade, but it is only now that Deluge of Sorrow have finally got round to recording their music. On Oceans of Failure is the first of what is hoped are many demos to follow; a track that encapsulates a particular epic quality within its atmospheric metal leaning. Flaunting an openly experimental flair, their music also defies the norm in the way it weaves in and out of different movements, all in less than eight minutes.

Despite various line-up changes and at one point, a four-year hiatus, Deluge of Sorrow has managed to establish itself as a must-see band in the Maltese metal scene, with a following that transcends metal’s various sub-genres. Upon its return to the scene with an appearance at the Femfest in 2009, Deluge of Sorrow received a very positive response, which in turn led to more consistent activity in the band’s camp and other live appearances, including the Malta Doom Metal and Xtreme Metal Assault festivals in 2010.

More recently, the band took on a new vocalist, and is now working on new material that will more than likely lead to more live gigs this year.

On Oceans of Failure is available to stream or download from the band’s Bandcamp page.
