In the two matches in yesterday’s Winter League programme, Marsaxlokk ASC and Otters Nivea shared the spoils while Vallettta Utd beat the ASA Under 19 team.

The first clash was a close affair, typical of the balance there is among the First Division teams.

Fortunes shifted as first the Gozitan side took a two-goal advantage before the southerners turned the tables for a 7-5 lead.

However, Otters recovered in the closing minutes to draw level, with their last two goals coming from veterans Keith Grima Scott and John Paris.

For Marsaxlokk the promising Michele Mifsud struck four times.

In the second match, Valletta overcome an early three-goal deficit to beat a defiant ASA youth side.

The City team owe their victory mostly to four-goal Michael Spiteri Staines.

For the Under 19 team, Andreas Galea and Nicholas Bugelli netted a hat-trick each.
