Actress Scarlett Johansson has called for a spin-off film for her Marvel character, the Black Widow, as Captain America: The Winter Soldier premiered in the UK.

The 29-year-old, who is reportedly pregnant with her first child, showed off her curves in a scarlet dress by Vivienne Westwood, which she teamed with red lips and nails and animal-print Christian Louboutin heels.

She was accompanied on the blue carpet at Westfield London by her co-stars Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson.

After reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff and her superhero alter-ego Black Widow for the third time since 2010’s Iron Man 2, the actress said she would now like the Russian spy to star in her own film.

“If you want to see a Black Widow spin-off movie, then I want to see it,” she said. “We’ll see. We will put the request in to Marvel tomorrow.”

Johansson, who will slip back into Romanoff’s slinky catsuit for Avengers: Age of Ultron, was concerned the outfit might not fit this time around.

“It was great. You never know what’s going to happen when you put it on. But luckily it zipped up,” she said.

British actresses Hayley Atwell and Jenny Agutter also attended the premiere along with Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and directors Anthony and Joe Russo, while hundreds of fans waited for hours to catch a glimpse of the film stars.

Agutter, who currently stars in BBC drama Call the Midwife, said: “It was very exciting when I was asked to do it and I immediately said yes. I love all the action and the stunts – it’s a very different part of film-making and it’s very different from Call the Midwife!”

The 61-year-old enjoyed working with actor Robert Redford, saying: “He’s enchanting. He’s a very down-to-earth person and very relaxed, which makes this very easy.”

Mackie, another newcomer to the Marvel world, added: “I always knew this movie was something special from the first time I read it, and I’m just glad it turned out to be good.”

Stan described the event as a “homecoming”.

“We shot the first movie in London, so this is like a homecoming to me,” he said. “I didn’t know as we were doing the first movie that I would be coming back, so this is great.”
