The 10 per cent from the proceeds of Gensna that were going to be donated to the Community Chest Fund will instead be given to the family of a worker who was critically injured when a structure collapsed onto the stage at the MFCC, where the show is being held, earlier this week.

Another three workers were also injured in the accident which took place during preparation for Gensna. An arch-like structure which was being used for lighting fixtures toppled forward and collapsed onto the stage.

The organisers said today that the decision to donate the money to the worker’s family was taken after President George Abela expressed his wish that this would be done.

The rock opera Gensna will be presented as planned at the MFCC in Ta' Qali this weekend.
